Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt. - John Muir
From The Sole Of My Shoe included in NewRo Runners Weekly Newsletter
I’ve been looking into the various routes that we have and heard feedback from some of the membership that new routes are needed. While I know this might seem like an overwhelming task, we know that there are members of NewRo runners from all over Westchester.
A few years ago, we started to streamline the routes by writing them as bulleted lists and cross checking the mileage on Map My Run. As we continue to move forward, we are looking for additional routes and to add to our repertoire. Typically, we try to look for large parking lots where parking is free. Some of our usual lots are now cracking down on parking and we might have to revisit the starting points. Usually the routes begin from either a shopping center or school. Since we start fairly early in the morning, our cars will not have an impact on businesses or alternate activities. In addition, we map out simple routes anywhere between 3 through 10 miles (or more if you’re up for it!) that allow for the group to stay together for at least the first part of the routes.
Here is a current list of our meeting places:
Glen Island (only in the winter)
Chipotle (New Rochelle/Quaker Ridge Rd)
CVS on North Ave (near Starbucks- North New Rochelle)
New Rochelle High School
Albert Leonard Middle School
Ward Elementary School

We have started from the North County Trail as well and plan to sprinkle that as well. If you know of another meeting place that might benefit the club to have a run from and would like some help with creating a route, please do not hesitate to reach out.
In addition to routes, we are beginning to ask members to share their experiences with runs, training, and races. I have reached out to a few members who have completed some amazing races in the past few weeks, but would love to hear from all members. This is a great way to connect with one another and have more voices heard.
We LOVE to hear from YOU!
